Holiday Season at Home

Holiday Season at Home

When it’s cold outside, have a cozy night in If you’re reading this in 2020, then staying in is nothing new to you.  However, with the holidays coming up and the sun setting earlier and earlier, the nights at home may seem long and drawn out.  Here are five tips to have an enjoyable night in this winter season.

1. Read a good book by the fire

Reading as a pastime is something that has really been able to stand the test of time.  There are so many good books out there that it might be hard to just narrow it down to a few.  Whatever you choose to do, make it extra special by lighting up your fireplace to listen to the crackling of the wood as you transport yourself to a different time and place.  No fireplace?  Not a problem, YouTube and even Netflix have videos of burning firewood to help you get the same feel from your TV or phone.  Give it a try!

2. Cook up something warm to eat

With the colder temperatures comes the need to eat something warm to fend off the chill of the weather.  Do just that by whipping up a hearty soup or spicy dish of your choice to make your tummy feel content.  Maybe try a new recipe or order something from the restaurant you have never tried before.  Nothing like a little adventure right?

Don’t forget dessert: hot chocolate with whipped cream, a warm piece of apple pie, or maybe even some holiday cookies or brownies.  It’s all about you right now so you decide!

3. Listen to your favorite holiday music mix

Whether you are the type of person that listens to holiday music from Halloween to New Year’s or you are somewhere in between, music can make any night at home fun.  Dance by the light of your Christmas tree or get nostalgic by playing the tunes of your youth.  If you need some inspiration, check out the Fine Touch Entertainment Mixcloud page where holiday mixes and other cool stuff will be posted regularly.  Get the Mixcloud App or just Follow us here: www.mixcloud.com/finertouch

4. Work your way through your Netflix watch list.

Netflix has been putting out new holiday content since October of this year.  There are so many new things to watch and plenty of old shows to catch up on.  Not to mention the many other online platforms such as Disney +, Hulu, and Apple TV with many shows of their own to compete for your attention.  Take your pick, pop some popcorn, and settle in for some great cinema right from the comfort of your couch.

5. Plan your next trip.

As in all things in life, “this, too, shall pass”.  With that in mind, plan your first trip when quarantine life (and the winter blues) are long behind us.  Give yourself something to look forward to as you figure out where to travel to next and who is going with you.  Before you know it, you will be able to travel the world again so get ahead of things and make your plans now.

These are just a few tips to help you get though this winter season while you are “Bored in the house, bored in the house board”

Until next week, be safe and focus forward!
